Inset: DDP Charity Araba Magnusen presenting a Cup to the Greater Accra ladies football team for winning.The National President of the Prisons Ladies’ Association (PRILAS), Madam Josephine Fredua-Agyemang (Mrs.), has called on female Prisons officers to work hard, and upgrade themselves appropriately to achieve excellence and support the Service to effectively deliver on its mandate.
Madam Josephine, who is also the Director of Prison (DOP) in charge of Welfare, advised female officers during an Inter-regional fun games competition between the Greater Accra and the Eastern Region ladies at the Nsawam Prisons Park recently.
DOP Josephine entreated the ladies to be united, and support each other to make their slogan, We Love, We Care, and We Support, meaningful and beneficial to them and the Service. “I take this opportunity to encourage you all as ladies to take the challenge of reaching the top, and make your presence positively felt anywhere you find yourselves in the line of duty”, she added.
The Eastern Regional President of the Association, Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) Charity Araba Magnusen (Mrs.), welcomed the participating teams to the competition, and noted that, ‘this is a very healthy move that must be sustained at all times, and must also serve as a platform to foster unity amongst us’.
The fun games, which forms part of the Association’s 10th Anniversary celebrations, witnessed the Chief Sports Officer, Superintendent Evelyn Ghartey, taking the teams through some aerobics and body massages that prepared them for the showdown in football, volley ball, egg and Spoon race, sack race, dancing, and tug of war competition.
At the end of the competition, the ladies from the Greater Accra Region took the ultimate prize for winning in volley ball, egg and spoon race, sack race, football, and dancing, while the ladies from the Eastern Region won the tug of war competition.
Other Prisons dignitaries present at the games were Mr. SKB Rabbles, the Director of Prisons in charge of Operations/Agriculture; Mr. Leopold K. Ansah, the Director in charge of Technical/Services; DDP. IK. Egyir, the Eastern Region Prisons Commander; and DDP. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (Mrs.), the Chief Legal Officer of the Service.
