S.D.A CHURCH DONATES TO GHANA PRISONS SERVICE

The Ghana Prisons Service has taken delivery of three boxes of books from the Southern Ghana Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church at the Prisons Headquarters in Accra. The books titled“Health and Wellness: Secrets That Will Change Your Life” were presented to the Prisons Service as part of the church’s campaign on good health and wellness lifestyle.

Presenting the books, the Executive Secretary of the Southern Union Conference of S.D.A who doubles as the head pastor for Prince Emmanuel Church, Rev.  Thomas Techie Ocran, said the donation was to help officers maintain good health and stable lifestyle.

He hinted that the book teaches about how good nutrition heals the body and boosts the performance of the human mind; how purpose increases resilience; how love and forgiveness can mend the heart.
Receiving the books on behalf of the Director-General of Prisons, Deputy Director of Prisons (D.D.P), Mr. L.K Ansah expressed profound gratitude for the kind gesture. He appealed to the group to reconsider donating copies to prisoners in future, since inmates also encounter health challenges.  Mr. Ansah gave the assurance that the books will be read and the knowledge shared with the prisoners.

DDP Ansah, the Deputy Director of Prisons who is also the representative of senior prison officers on the Service Council, used the opportunity to invite the S.D.A Church to support the Project ‘Efiase’ which will be launched soon by the Council.
Project ‘Efiase’ is an initiative of the Prisons Service Council aimed at unveiling the woes of prison inmates and raising funds from corporate Ghana, institutions, individuals and well-meaning Ghanaians to improve the conditions of the prisons in the country.
