Mr. Ali Kwaku Ababio, was born on the 13th October, 1967. He is a seasoned Ghanaian Prisons Officer with over 33 years working experience in the Service. He joined the Service on 6th August, 1992 as a recruit officer. He rose through the Junior officer ranks till 1997, when he joined the Senior Officer Corps after successfully completing the Cadet Course. He successfully rose through the ranks through hard work and dedication to service.
Prior to his current position as the Director of Prisons in charge of Agriculture, he was the Commanding Officer of Prisons Headquarters. He has served as the Eastern Regional Commander and the Officer-In-Charge of the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons.
Mr. Ababio has also held several command positions including Western Regional Commander and Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of Sekondi Central Prison, OIC of Koforidua Local and Tarkwa Local Prisons, 3IC of Kumasi Central Prison, 3IC of Kenyasi Settlement Camp Prison and Welfare Officer at the Winneba Local Prison.
At the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons (NMSP), he introduced new ideas to improve prison management, focusing on Reformation, Rehabilitation and Reintegration. He collaborated with the Benso Palm Plantation Company to establish an 8.5-acre palm plantation during the 2016/2017 farming season, generating income for the Service.
He led initiatives to enhance prison security and public safety, focusing on welfare and capacity building. He played a pivotal role in refurbishing of the Tarkwa Local Prisons Infirmary and providing medical equipment through the support of AngloGold Ashanti, and constructed two mechanized boreholes for the Tarkwa Local Prison.
Mr. Ababio has also led a team of senior officers in a training course on Identification and Management of Violent Extremist Offenders, held in Tiflet, Morocco in 2024.
DOP. Ababio holds a Certificate in Emergency Management and Response Training, Colorado, USA and a Higher National Diploma in Building and Construction from Cuba.
Mr. Kwaku Ababio is married to Mrs. Esther Owusu Ababio and are blessed with 6 children.
