Mr. Nelson Basubinin Duut, born on 25th February, 1962 was appointed into the Prisons Service on 5th December, 1995 as an Officer Cadet and was commissioned on 5th July, 1996. He has served the Service for Twenty-Six (26) years.
Mr. Duut currently holds the position as Director of Prisons in charge of Finance and Administration. Before his recent appointment, he served as the Director of Prisons in charge of Technical and Services, Headquarters. He also served as the Ashanti Regional Commander, Western Regional Commander, Officer-In-Charge at the Kpando Local Prison, Second in Command at Navrongo Central Prison in the Upper East Region, 2IC at the Tamale Central Prison, Northern Region, Ag. Officer-In-Charge,-Tamale Central Prison, Northern Region, Head of Education Unit, Head of Procurement and Accounts at the Agric Unit, Headquarters, Accra.
He is a holder of Master of Science in Defence & International Politics from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, holder of final certificate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ACIS UK) from the University of Professional Studies, Accra, and ICSA Pre-Professional certificate from Kumasi Technical University.
Mr. N. B Duut also served with the United Nations Missions in Liberia (UNMIL) as a Corrections/ Advisor and Mentor, where he had the opportunity to work with several stakeholders/ Partners in the Rule of Law sector including Ministry of Justice, the Judiciary, the Police, Community based groups, UN Agencies, International and Local NGOs, Donor agencies and civil society groups in the pursuit of peace and stability in the Republic of Liberia.
He is a member of the International Corrections and Prisons Association (ICPA), Ghana Institute of Management (GIM), Ghana Association of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (GHAICSA) and The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (UK)
Mr. Duut is married with five (5) children.
