Mr. Benedict Bob-Dery was born on 24th March 1970. He was enlisted into the Ghana Prisons Service on 1st December, 1995 and was commissioned on 5th July, 1996. He has served in various commanding positions in the Ghana Prison Service.
Prior to his appointment as the Director of Prisons in charge of Human Resource on 1st July, 2022, he was the Regional Commander and the Officer in Charge for Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions from March, 2021. He had earlier held positions of Officer in Charge of Koforidua Local Prison, Officer in Charge of Obuasi Local Prison, Second-in-Command of Sunyani Central Prison and Officer in Charge of Salaga Local.
On the International front, he held the position of a Correctional Advisor and Mentor at the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), where he assisted in organizing capacity Building programs for National prisons staff, among other assignments.
DOP Bob-Dery holds a Master of Arts in Human Resource Development, from the University of Cape Coast, Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management & Public Administration (GIMPA) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with study of Religions, University of Ghana.
DOP Bob-Dery is well acknowledged for his contribution in the improvement in infrastructure at the Koforidua Local Prison and many other establishments he managed.
He is a proud product of Lawra Senior High School (‘O Level) and Wa Senior High School (‘A Level).
DOP Bob-Dery has attended a number of career development programmes which include, Executive training on promotions, upgrading and staff performance management tool (GIMPA) Corrections Management Training, Colorado, USA, Swedish Prisons and Probation Service and Corrections Advisory (UnpriPOC) in-mission training in Uganda , among others.
Mr. Bob-Dery is a member of International Prisons and Correction Association.
He is married and blessed with five (5) children.
He enjoys gardening and Animal husbandry.
