Mr. Benedict Bob-Dery was born on 24th March 1970. He was enlisted into the Ghana Prisons Service on 1st December, 1995. Upon successful completion of the cadet course, he was commissioned as an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP) on 5th July, 1996.
Prior to his appointment as the Director of Prisons in charge of Operations & Facility Management, he was the Director in charge of Services and Director in charge of Human Resource. He has also served in various commanding positions such as the Regional Commander and the Officer in Charge for Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions, the Officer in Charge of Koforidua Local Prison, Officer in Charge of Obuasi Local Prison, Second-in-Command of Sunyani Central Prison and Officer in Charge of Salaga Local.
On the International front, he held the position of a Correctional Advisor and Mentor at the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), where he assisted in organizing capacity Building programs for National prisons staff, among other assignments.
DOP Bob-Dery holds a Master of Arts in Human Resource Development, from the University of Cape Coast, Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management & Public Administration (GIMPA) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with study of Religions, University of Ghana.
DOP Bob-Dery is well acknowledged for his contribution in the improvement in infrastructure at the Koforidua Local Prison, Sunyani Central Prison and other establishments he managed.
He is a proud product of Lawra Senior High School (‘O Level) and Wa Senior High School (‘A Level).
DOP Bob-Dery has attended a number of career development programmes. These include, Executive training on promotions, upgrading and staff performance management tool (GIMPA) Corrections Institutional Management Training, Colorado, USA, Swedish Prisons and Probation Service and Corrections Advisory (UnpriPOC) in-mission training in Uganda. Others are Offenders Classification Training, DGAPR National Training Centre, Tiflet, Morocco, Human Resources Management Information (HRMIS) and User Training, Koforidua.
He is married and blessed with five (5) children.
He enjoys gardening and Animal husbandry.
