DIRECTOR GENERAL OF PRISONS VISITS OBUASI CAMP PRISON SITE

The Director General of Prisons, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (ESQ), has embarked on a visit to the Obuasi Camp Prison site at Pomposo in the Ashanti Region on Monday, September 15, 2025. She was accompanied by the Ashanti Regional Commander, DDP. Jame Mwinyella, and other senior officers.

The visit aimed to assess the progress of ongoing construction works and evaluate the operational efficiency of the prison facility.

Mrs. Baffoe-Bonnie during her inspection, focused on the safety and security measures in place, ensuring that the facility meets the required standards for inmate welfare and protection.

She inspected the expansive agricultural projects undertaken by the prison, including a 183 acre palm plantation, a 25 acre maize farm, and a 1 acre cassava farm. She commended the supervisors for their dedication and encouraged them to increase production targets for the next farming season.

The Director General of Prisons also made a stop at the Obuasi Local Prison, where she was welcomed by an all female quarter guard contingent.

This visit underscores the commitment to enhancing officers and inmates welfare. By focusing on agricultural productivity and security, the Director General aims to improve the overall effectiveness of the prison system in Ghana.
