WORKSHOP FOR HIV FOCAL PERSONS CLOSES
The 5 day training workshop on Screening for Violence, HTC, EMTCT organised by the Ghana Prisons Service in collaboration with the National Aids Control Programme (NACP) ended on friday, June 13,2025 with a brief closing ceremony.
The workshop which forms part of series of trainings scheduled under the 3 Year Prevention Programme by the Ghana Prisons Service was sponsored by the Global Fund.
Facilitators from NACP took participants through Basic Elements and Skills in Counselling, HIV testing and Counselling, Confidentiality, WHO Clinical Staging and General HIV Care.
The 37 focal persons through the 5 day workshop also acquired knowledge in DSD ART Delivery and DSD VL Monitoring, Paediatric HIV, Psychological Support and Mental Health, Stigma and Discrimination among other HIV and TB related topics.
The National HIV focal person ADP. Matilda Nyampong in her closing remarks acknowledged the active participation of participants throughout the workshop and cautioned them to take the issue of confidentiality very serious in discharging their duties.
The Director of Prisons in charge of Health Mrs. Joana Fofo Tackie-Otoo who graced the brief closing ceremony expressed appreciation to the facilitators and urged participants to enhance their performances with the skills and knowledged acquired at the workshop.
The 37 focal persons who participated in the training workshop were professional health officers selected from the various prison facilities across the country.
