TARKWA LOCAL PRISON WINS BEST INSTITUTION IN AGRICULTURE AT 41ST FARMERS DAY CELEBRATION
The Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly has marked the 41st National Farmers Day Celebration on the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, and Secure the Future.” The event, held on Friday, 5th December 2025 at Tarkwa Banso, brought together key stakeholders to honour hardworking farmers and institutions contributing to agricultural development.
The Tarkwa Local Prison was adjudged the Best Institution in Agriculture within the Tarkwa Municipality, earning recognition for its exemplary agricultural output and commitment to enhancing food production.
The award was based on the prison’s impressive agricultural projects, which include 7 acres of maize, 23.5 acres of oil palm plantation, 1 acre of vegetables, and 1 acre of plantain.
As part of the prize package, Tarkwa Local Prison received: 1 tabletop fridge, 1wheelbarrow, 4 shovels, 6 cutlasses, 1 knapsack sprayer, 3 pairs of Wellington boots, 2 bottles of weedicides, 3 bottles of fungicides, a box (12 pieces) of liquid fertilizer and a Certificate.
In his remarks, the Member of Parliament for the area reaffirmed the President’s call to reward hardworking farmers and encourage more citizens to venture into agriculture, stressing the need to reduce Ghana’s dependence on imported food.
