PULL OUT CEREMONY IN HONOUR OF DEPUTY-DIRECTOR GENERAL OF PRISONS

The Deputy-Director General in charge of operations, Mr. Sylvester K. Badu Rabbles in accordance with the tradition of the Ghana Prison Service, was memorably pulled out after decades of hard work, dedication and innovativeness to the Prison Service and mother Ghana.

The flagship and highly attended ceremony was held at the Prison church, cantonment and the Prison Officers Training school. As a very confident and hardworking senior officer, DDGP. Sylvester .K.B. Rabbles served in several capacities including the Commandant of the Prison Officers Training School, Commanding officer at Headquarters, Officer-In-Charge of Nsawam Medium Security Prison and Eastern Regional Commander, Director of Prisons in charge of Operation, Board chairman of senior officers promotion in 2019 and in December, 2018 was promoted to the rank of Deputy Director General of Prisons in charge of operations.

He earned three enviable medals through his twenty-nine years and months active service namely

  • The June 4th Revolution medal
  • The Golden Jubilee Celebration of Ghana Medal
  • Long service and Good Conduct Prisons Service Medal

The Pioneer corrections, training and development officer to the United Nations in Liberia has to his credit several international certificates in corrections management and supervision from the United States.

In April, 2013, he played a major role in a Swedish Government sponsored course in the United Nations prison and probation officer course at the Kofi Annan Peace Keeping Training Centre in Accra. For officers drawn from Ghana, Nigeria, Namibia, Gambia, and Sierra Leone.

The prisons administration honored the Deputy Director General in charge of operations with a citation and a plague in recognition of his exemplary service for mother Ghana. Several parting gifts from the directorates, stations, units, cadet intake, senior officers, friends and loved ones were showered on him.

The 13th of December, 2019 is indeed a day that the Prisons Service would remember as a memorable day on its calendar. A gallant son of the land and a mentor to all that aspire to top.
