2CO. FRANK TERKPOR SHINES AT AFRICAN SAMBO CHAMPION
Second Class Officer (2C0.) Frank Terkpor, a national Judo and Sambo athlete reached the semi final stage of the just ended African Sambo Championship held in Casablanca, Morocco from the 19th to 22nd of May,2023.
Sambo is a combat sport and a recognized style of amateur wrestling. This year’s championship was organised and sponsored by the International Sambo Federation. 17 African countries namely Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Congo, Cote D’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Djibouti, Egypt, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Mauritania, Tunisia and host Morocco presented athletes for the 4days championship which took place at the King Mohammed Sports Stadium, Morocco.
2CO. Terkpor, the only representative from Ghana competed in the 64kg category and defeated opponents from Burkina Faso,Niger, Morocco before loosing out on the Bronze medal to his competitor from Cameroon to place 4th in the competition.
