EID-UL-FITR CELEBRATION AT MANHYIA LOCAL PRISON WITH THE INMATES

On Friday 20th March, 2026, Manhyia Local Prison celebrated Eid-Ul-Fitr with the inmates after completing a 30-day fasting period of Ramadan.

The celebration commenced around 9:00 am with a prayer led by the Imam of Manhyia Local Prison, C/Supt. Jamal Adam Mohammed. The inmates were neatly dressed in their jalabia’s donated by an individual.

To create a sense of unity and belonging for the inmates during the Eid celebration, the Officer-In-Charge(OIC) of Manhyia Local Prison, DDP. Hannah Hilda Ewoame, assigned the caterers at the facility to prepare sassorted delicious meals for the inmates as their ration.

Morning: Breakfast Buffet (Oats, rice porridge, Lipton and Milo beverages with milk ) were served to them with boiled eggs and bread.

Afternoon: Lunch Buffet (delicious jollof rice, fried plantain, spaghetti rice, Curry rice and waakye with stew, shito, gari jollof, salad and chicken were served to them with soft drinks.

The inmates really enjoyed the meal and it put smiles on their faces.

The OIC, DDP. Hannah Hilda Ewoame, in her address, appreciated the donors and the public for their support during the Ramadan period. She again pleaded with the public to keep supporting the inmates to show them that they are still loved despite their offences.

These acts of kindness and compassion can inspire hope and motivate inmates to change positively.

The OIC took the opportunity to also advise the inmates to take advantage of the numerous academic and non academic programs at the facility to enhance themselves for easy reintegration into society when discharged.
