In a continued effort to enhance the welfare of both officers and inmates across all prison facilities, the Director-General of Prisons, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (Esq.), on Friday, December 5, 2025, paid a working visit to the Ho Central Prison and the Ho Female Prison.

Upon arrival at the Ho Central Prison, the Director-General inspected key departments, including the infirmary, laboratory, and workshops.

During her interaction with inmates, she assured them of plans to stock the infirmary with essential drugs and medical supplies, introduce additional skills-training programmes, and improve inmates’ rations with more nutritious meals. She further encouraged them to remain prayerful and maintain high standards of cleanliness in their cells.

Mrs. Baffoe-Bonnie also urged the inmates to make productive use of their time in custody by taking advantage of both the formal education opportunities and the vocational training available within the facility.

At the Ho Female Prison, she commended the inmates for maintaining clean cells and surroundings. She encouraged them to take their skills training seriously and remain hopeful for a better future. In response to a request from the facility, the Director-General pledged financial support to boost their soap-making enterprise.

The visit concluded with an engagement with officers from both facilities. Mrs. Baffoe-Bonnie briefed them on key components of the ongoing transformational agenda and addressed concerns raised by personnel.

She also highlighted ongoing collaborations and discussions aimed at advancing the mission of the Service under the “THINK PRISONS 360 DEGREES” initiative. The Director-General encouraged officers to pursue further academic development, exude confidence in their duties, and serve as ambassadors of the Prisons Reset Agenda.
