KOFORIDUA PRISON HOLDS CONFLICT RESOLUTION SEMINAR
A one-day seminar has been held for officers of Koforidua Local Prison. The seminar, which was at the instance of the Officer-in-Charge (OIC), Assistant Director Prisons (ADP) Christopher Hayibor was held at the Koforidua Prison on Friday July 8, 2022 after the usual Padre’s Hour.
Introducing the facilitator, the coordinator of the seminar, Supt. Godfred Apeatu Amponsah, who is in charge of Training and Services, said the seminar was part of leadership training, meant to equip officers for their role as leaders of the inmates under their care.
The facilitator was Bishop David Ofosu Hene of International Christian Cooperative Ministries. Topics treated included: the definition of conflict; the concept of conflict; types of conflict; causes of conflict; personal skills and development on conflict management and methods of managing conflict. He admonished officers to make relationships a priority, be willing to forgive and to know when to let go.
In his closing remarks, the OIC, ADP Christopher Hayibor said the seminar was a dream come true.
“As officers from different backgrounds, there are bound to be conflicts, but the most important thing is finding a means of amicably settling our differences”, he said. He urged officers to learn to compromise instead of always striving to win at all cost.
In all, 200 officers of the station participated in the seminar.
