DOP BAFFOE-BONNIE (ESQ) WINS FEMALE PILLAR IN PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD

The Director of Prisons in charge of Service, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (Esq.) has won the Female Pillar of Modern Ghana Award (Pillar in Public Service).

This laurel came as a recognition to her exemplary and outstanding contributions to the economy in the public sector development.

The event which recognized and honoured 50 women and men in their various fields of discipline, which included health, security, education, engineering, politics among others.

It was organized yesterday by the West Africa International Limited at the Holiday Inn hotel under the theme ‘Ghana’s Political, Socio-Economic and Industrial Growth: Women hold the Key’ in Accra.

Mrs. Baffoe-Bonnie (Esq.) is an astute Prisons Officer with 36 years experience in Corrections Management, a highly disciplined lawyer, Social worker, Coach, Corrections and Security Expert, Policy and System Analyst and a Human Rights Expert with special interest in women, children and prisoners.

Her extensive knowledge and experience effectively extends to transforming the lives of individuals, systems and organizations including security institutions.

Until her current appointment, she was the Director for Technical and Services.

Throwing light on her trajectory as the first Director for Health, she established an efficient robust and sustainable prisons health system and achieved a zero COVID-19 infection in the prisons nationwide during the peak of the COVID 19 pandemic.

She has also served as the Officer-In-Charge of the James Camp Prison, the Chief Legal Officer of the Service and a Chief Advisor to Director Generals on all matters.

On the international front, Mrs. Baffoe-Bonnie worked with the United Nations Mission in Liberia as a planner, mentor and advisor.

She is a proud product of Tema Secondary and Winneba Seondary schools.

Other prestigious awards swept by DOP Baffoe-Bonnie include; HD LeadHERS Xperience Award (Exceptional Award for Women in Leadership, 2023), Chewa Award 2023 (Exceptional Woman Award) and Ghana Women’s Award 2013 (Outstanding female Prisons Officer).
