PRESIDENT MAHAMA SWEARS IN MRS. BAFFOE-BONNIE (ESQ.) AS DIRECTOR GENERAL OF PRISONS
The President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has sworn in Deputy Director-General of Prisons (DDGP) in charge of Finance and Administration, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (ESQ.) as the Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service.

The ceremony took place at the Jubilee House on Monday, 17thMarch, 2025. It was attended by high profile personalities including top officials of the Ghana Prisons Service and other Sister Security Services.
During the ceremony, the President also announced the appointments of heads of other Sister Security Services including Ghana National Fire and Ghana Immigration Services.

According to His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama the new heads have for the past years demonstrated high sense of professionalism, commitment, discipline and the ability to navigate complex security and public safety challenges.
“The strength of every nation is not measured solely by itseconomy or the efficiency of its institutions but also by the security and safety of its citizens”, he added.
The Director General of Prisons, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (ESQ.) on behalf of her colleague Heads, expressed her gratitude to the President, the Vice President and the membersof the Council of State for their appointments. She pledged their commitment to working tirelessly to help realise thevision of the government.

“We bring to this role decades of experience, spanning from operational roles at the very bottom of the hierarchy to management positions. We have witnessed the evolution of our Services and are fully aware of the efforts invested so far to achieve world-class standards in service delivery”, she said.
DGP Baffoe-Bonnie described her appointment as a remarkable opportunity to serve the nation. She said her leadership will expand on agriculture which will contribute to food security of the nation.
“As a Service, we will convert our skills and services we provide into commercial ventures to make us relevant in the fiscal space of this country. A year by this time, we will not produce food to support only ourselves, but also contribute realistically to the budgetary allocation of government”, she added.
She pledged to ensure the safe custody of inmates and improve on inmates’ welfare needs, while prioritisingimproving the welfare and conditions of service of officers.
She also appealed to the President for regular support in carrying out their official duties.
