PRISONS CLINIC TRAINS STAFF ON CHILD WELFARE AND MATERNAL HEALTH SERVICES.

The Prisons Clinic, Roman Ridge, in collaboration with the Ayawaso West Municipal Health Directorate, has organised a training session for selected staff on health promotion, ANC, CWC, nutrition, immunisation and maternal healthcare on Thursday,27 August 2026.

In an opening remarks, the Administrator of the Clinic, ADP Augustina Nana Ama Boadu, expressed appreciation to the Ayawaso West Municipal Health Directorate for its prompt support and organisation of the training. She emphasised the importance of Antenatal Care(ANC) and Child Welfare Clinic (CWC) services as critical first-contact services for pregnant women and children under five. She stressed on the importance quality care, early detection and prevention of complications, respectful treatment, teamwork and timely referral of high-risk cases.

A Health Promotion Officer Madam Naomi Odonkor in a presentation educated trainees on proper completion and use of the Monthly Health Promotion Register, including documenting communication channels and Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) materials.

Participants were also engaged in unit-based practical table discussions to strengthen maternal and child healthcare delivery.

The training forms part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of staff and improve maternal and child health services at the Prisons Clinic.
