VULCANIZING SHOP AND WASHING BAY NEAR COMPLETION AT SUNYANI CENTRAL PRISON UNDER THINK PRISONS 360 DEGREES INITIATIVE.

The construction of a vulcanizing shop and a washing bay under construction at Sunyani Central Prison is nearing completion under the Think Prisons 360 degrees initiative, a transformative initiative by the Director- General of Prisons, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie(Esq), aimed at promoting rehabilitation, skills development and self-reliance among inmates.

The facility, upon completion, will serve as a practical vocational training centre where inmates will acquire hands-on skills in tyre repair and maintenance, as well as professional vehicle washing and detailing. These training opportunities are intended to equip inmates with employable skills that will facilitate their successful reintegration into society upon their release.

The vulcanizing shop is nearing completion, with only electrical installations outstanding before it becomes fully operational. Similarly, the washing bay requires a reliable source of water before operations can commence.

The services of the vulcanizing shop will be accessible to prison officers and members of the general public. This is expected to foster stronger community engagement, generate revenue to support inmate welfare and rehabilitation programmes and also contribute to making the prisons centres of reformation and productivity.
