PROMOTING WELLNESS THROUGH YOGA AT POTS
On June 12, 2026, the Prison Officers Training School (POTS), in collaboration with the High Commission of India, Accra, organized a transformative yoga session for officers aimed at promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
The session saw officers actively participating in a variety of yoga exercises, breathing techniques, meditation, and mindfulness practices designed to improve flexibility, reduce stress, and enhance overall wellness.
The facilitators Roberta Trzebinski, Certified Yoga and Pilates Instructor, P4 Pilates and Dr. Jasbir Shastri, Teacher of Indian Culture, High Commission of India expertly guided participants through the various yoga sessions, creating an engaging and refreshing experience for all.
Addressing officers, the Commandant of the training school , DDP Isaac Abuaku-Ameyaw, emphasized the importance of the yoga session clearly stating that it has the potential to help officers achieve physical fitness through controlled movements, strength-building, and flexibility. He underscored that when it is done regularly it eases tension and stress points in the body. He indicated that it was necessary to consider the exercise on periodic basis.
This initiative reflects commitment to promoting the holistic well-being of officers under the Think Prisons 360° agenda, recognizing that healthy officers are better equipped to deliver excellence in every mission.
