DGP PAYS COURTESY CALL ON THE CATHOLIC ARCHBISHOP OF ACCRA ARCHDIOCESE

The Director-General of Prisons, Mr. Isaac Kofi Egyir has paid a courtesy call on His Grace, Archbishop John Bonaventure Kwofie, the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Accra archdiocese of the Catholic Church, at his residence in Accra.

The call which happens to be the first to the Archdiocese since Mr. Isaac Egyir assumed office as the Director-General of Prisons was to deepen the relationship between the Catholic Church in Ghana and the Ghana Prisons Service.

Speaking during the visit on Wednesday, Mr. Egyir noted that the Catholic Church has been one of the key partners to the Service, and commended the Church for their continuous support to the Prisons Service over the years.

‘I deem it fit to pay courtesy calls on some key partners especially the priesthood, to come for blessings and also take some pieces of advice that will guide me as the head of a Security Service which is mandated to ensure safe custody and reformation of prisoners’, he added.

His Grace, Archbishop Bonaventure Kwofie thanked the Director-General of Prisons and his team for the visit and assured him of his commitment and support.

The Director-General was accompanied by the Director of Prisons in charge of Services and Technical, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, the head of Technical unit, Assistant Director of Prisons (ADP) Daniel B. T. Abbey; the Personal Assistant to the Director-General of Prisons, ADP Joseph Vuu, the Chief Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Prisons Courage Atsem and Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Irene Pieteson Arthur.

Also present were the Vicar General of the Catholic archdiocese of Accra, Reverend Father John Louis and the Personal Assistant and secretary to the Archbishop, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Appah.
