THINK PRISONS 360 LAUNCHED IN EASTERN REGION

The Director-General of Prisons, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (Esq.), on 12th December 2025, joined the Eastern Regional Command to officially launch the Think Prison 360 Degrees Initiative at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

The launch brought together all seven prison stations in the region, with representatives from sister security agencies also in attendance. As part of the visit, the Director-General paid courtesy calls on the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, and the Paramount Chief of New Juaben, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III.

Both the Regional Minister and the Paramount Chief expressed strong support for the Think Prison 360 Degrees Agenda, particularly the Prison Improvement and Sustainability Pesewa Fund(PISPES), which is a key driving force of the new prison agenda. They both made initial contributions to the fund and pledged to encourage their close associates to support the initiative.

The launch was preceded by a colourful float through the principal streets of the regional capital, creating public awareness about the initiative. Dignitaries who attended the programme included the Director of Prisons in charge of Operations and Facility Management, Mr. Benedict Bob-Dery, the Eastern Regional Commander, DDP Patrick Thomas Seidu; the District Chief Executive, Hon. Moses Tangmee; and the Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander, ACP Richard Appiah.

The THINK PRISONS 360 DEGRESS seeks to improve the welfare of staff and officers, promote agricultural mechanization, industrialization, prison-based businesses, wealth creation, and strategic partnerships. It is already gaining momentum, with visible developments being recorded.
