PROWA MEMBERS RECEIVE SKILLS TRAINING

A total of nineteen members of Prisons Officers Wives Association (PROWA) in the Bono Region have undergone an eight-week skills training programme organized by the military high command for spouses of Military personnel.

The skills training programmme which began on 4th June, 2022 and ended on 5th August, 2022 at the 3BN Liberation barracks in Sunyani, was to improve on entrepreneurial skills of spouses of the security personnel in the region and empower them with a stable source of income, so that they can give financial support to their husbands in times of need.

During the training, participants were taken through programmes such as beads making, soap making, ice cream making, food and dishes preservatives, makeup, fascinators, flower arrangement and decor makeup.

At the closing ceremony, the Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, Mrs. Ivy Owusu who was the special guest of honor thanked the military High Command for the initiative and also for extending the programme to those outside the barracks.
“The skills acquired will equip wives to be financially independent so that they will not always run to their husbands for money in times of need”, she added.

The closing ceremony was crowned with an exhibition from participants with some dishes, fascinators, drinks, ice cream and other items put on display for all to see. They were also awarded certificates, which will help in their entrepreneurship journey.

Present at the closing ceremony were the OIC/ Regional Commander, DDP Benedict Bob-Dery, Lt. Col. Obiri Yeboah, Commanding Officer (CO) of the 154 Armoured Regiment, Lt. Col. Dominic Buah, Commanding Officer (CO) of the Armour training school, Lt. Col. Yaw Kwarteng, Commanding Officer (CO) of the 3BN and other invited guests.
