PRISONS SERVICE PARTICIPATES IN 50TH GRADUATION CEREMONY OF GAFCS.

The Ghana Prisons Service participated in the 50th Graduation Ceremony of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College( (GAFCSC) on Friday, August 21, 2026, in Accra. The ceremony, held under the theme “Celebrating 50 Years of Excellence in Professional Military Education,” marked the graduation of students from Senior Command and Staff Course 47, Master of Defence and International Politics, and Master of Science in Security Studies.

In a speech delivered on behalf of the Vice President and Chairperson of the Armed Forces Council, Her Excellency Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang the Minister for Defence, Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, congratulated graduates and called for stronger collaboration, integrity, professionalism, innovation and adaptability in addressing emerging security threats.

The Service was represented by the Director of Prisons in charge of Operations and Facility Management, DOP. Benedict Bob-Derry. The participation of the Service aligns with the Think Prisons 360 Degrees initiative, particularly its focus on partnerships, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration with key institutions to promote rehabilitation, reintegration, and the transformation of persons in custody.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister for Defence, Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Deputy Minister for Transport, Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey, members of the diplomatic corps; representatives of the various security services, and other distinguished stakeholders.
