DGP. ENGAGES OFFICERS, INMATES OF NAVRONGO CENTRAL PRISON
The Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service,Mrs.Patience Baffoe-Bonnie(Esq) in her continuous efforts to enhance the welfare of officers and inmates, has engaged officers and inmates of the Navrongo Central prison ahead of the maiden Obaatanpa christmas jamboree for the children in the Navrongo prison community.
In an inspiring interaction with officers, the Director General of Prisons(DGP.) commended officers for their hardwork throughout the year and encouraged them to be more dedicated and exhibit professionalism in discharging their duties. She also urged all officers present to be strong advocates the Ghana Prisons transformational agenda “Think Prisons 360 Degrees” which aims to advance the mission of the Ghana Prisons Service.
Mrs.Patience Baffoe-Bonnie(Esq) in her address to some concerns of officers, assured the management and staff of the Navrongo Central prison of her unflinching support towards improving their conditions of service and hinted on strategic measures taken by the Prisons administration to improve officers welfare in the region. In a separate engagement with the inmates, the Director General of Prisons mentioned that, she would ensure that remand prisoners who have spent more years at the facility and deserve to be released, benefit from the Justice For All Programme.
She urged them to be prayerful and hopeful for a second chance, as God has better plans for their lives, even in incarceration. DGP. Baffoe-Bonnie assured the inmates of introducing more skills training programmes to the facility to make them productive as well as equip them with employable skills after their release. She notified them of her major concern in enhancing their welfare, especially in increasing the nutrients in their diet with more proteins and vegetables. She wished them a merry christmas in advance and urged them to be of good behaviours in the coming year.
