PUBLIC AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT(HQ) SENSITIZES YOUTH OF CHURCH OF CHRIST.

Some officers from the Public Affairs Department, Prisons Headquarters on Friday, March 6, 2026 sensitized executives and members of the Abeka District of the Church of Christ, at the Abeka North Church of Christ Assembly.

The sensitization covered the mandate of the Prisons Service, Crime Prevention and the Strategic direction initiative “Think Prisons 360 Degrees”.

Speaking on the mandate of the Service, the presentation centered on how inmates are admitted into the prison system, the process involved in ensuring their safe custody, reformation and how discharge procedures are handled through to the living conditions in the prisons.

The team leader SUPT. Samuel Kofi Opoku highlighted some of the rehabilitation programs,noting that these initiatives are aimed at providing employable skills to support their reintegration into society after release.

He furthered admonished members of the church to refrain from criminal activities and avoid stigmatizing ex- convicts after their release into society. He encouraged the congregation to support and work with them, especially if they possess the skills needed.

Members from the various congregation under the district applauded the impactful engagement after several questions and concerned were addressed to their satisfaction.

They all pledged support for the Prison Improvement and Sustainability Pesewa fund (PISPES) through the short code *972*1*3100# on all networks.
