OPENING CEREMONY HELD FOR BRADETA- AGRIC FUNCTIONAL TRAINING

The opening ceremony for the BRADETA – Agricultural Functional Training for Prison Officers has been held at the School of Agriculture Farm House, University of Ghana, Legon today Wednesday, 26th April, 2023.

The 14days training is an initiative of the Ghana Prisons Service in collaboration with the Design Thinking Development Centre (DTDC) of the department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, University of Ghana.

The training is to equip selected 50 junior officers drawn from 5 prison establishments actively involved in farming with basic knowledge and skills in agriculture to increase outputs at their various establishments

The course participants will be taken through Plant and Animal Care, Management,Finance and Marketing of Farming, Operations and Administration of Farming, Vegetable Farming, Pig Farming and Post Harvest Activities. The Design Thinking approach to business success will be adopted to guide the the 14days residential training with 28 interactive sessions.
The Director of Prisons in charge of Agriculture, DOP. Hanson Adu – Awuku in his opening remarks entreated the course participants to take the training seriously and exhibit high level of professionalism and discipline.

Present at the brief ceremony were the Director of Prisons in charge of Welfare, DOP.Joana Fofo Tackie – Otoo (Mrs.),the Dean and Principal Instructor for the BRADETA Project, Prof.Irene S. Egyir (Mrs.) and the Chief Agric Officer, Deputy Director of Prisons DDP. Augustine Ohene – Tutu.

The rest were Prof. Akwasi Mensah – Bonsu, Prof. Dilys S. MacCarthy, Dr. Seloame T. Nyaku all from the School of Agriculture, University of Ghana and some senior prison officers.
