DIRECTOR OF PRISONS GLORIA ESSANDOH WINS OUTSTANDING FEMALE PERSONALITY AWARD
The Director of Prisons (DOP) in charge of Health, Madam Gloria Essandoh (Esq.) has been adjudged the Outstanding Prisons Service female Personality, Security Service Category at the Ghana Women Awards 2024.

The ceremony took place last weekend at the Accra International Conference Centre. The theme for this year’s Awards was ‘Celebrating Womanhood, A Key Element For National Development’.
The event was organized by Brein Consult and TV3 in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

The Ghana Women Awards scheme seeks to identify, recognize and reward women who have distinguished themselves remarkably in their various fields of endeavors.
Twenty five (25) distinguished & outstanding women were honored and awarded in their various fields of discipline, which included four (4) other female officers from the Ghana Armed forces, the Ghana Immigration Service , the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Revenue Authority(Customs Division)
DOP. Gloria Essandoh (Esq.) has 29 years experience in different sectors of Corrections Management and has served in various commanding positions in the Ghana Prisons Service.

She has also served as the Second in Command/Staff Officer at the defunct James Fort Female Prisons, Headquarters, Adjutant at the Prison Officers Training School, the Chief Legal Officer of the Service before her appointment as the Director of Prisons in charge of Health.
On the international front, Gloria Essandoh (Esq.) worked with the United Nations Mission as a Correctional advisor and a policy planning officer.
She is a proud product of the Mfantsiman Girls’ Senior High School.
