ULTRA MODERN MOSQUE COMMISSIONED AT WA CENTRAL PRISON
The Upper West Prison Command has benefited from an ultra modern mosque facility sponsored by the Ghana Charity Foundations through the efforts of the Jamiatul Hidayatul Islamiat mission in Wa.
The project which was coordinated by the Ag.Imam of Wa Central Prison, ASP. Sulemana Wahab started in June,2024, commissioned and handed over to the Prison Command on 25th October 2024.
Some of the dignitaries present at the brief commissioning and handing over ceremony included the Regional Commander/OIC of the Wa Central Prison, representatives of Jamiatul Hidayatul Islamiat, the Headmistress of the Wa Basic school complex and staff, the Directors of the Ghana Charity Association for Development and representatives of the Federation of Muslims Women Association. The rest were representatives of the office of the Regional Chief Imam and Senior Officers from the Wa Central Prison and the Ghana National Fire service.
Speaking at the commissioning and handing over ceremony, the Chairman of the Jamiatul Hidayatul Islamiat,Alhaji Yusif said the donation is in response to a request by the Prison Command. He underscored the donation’s significance citing that the mosque symbolizes hope and redemption, reflecting our commitment to spiritual growth of both inmates and officers. ADP. Mwinyelle ceased the opportunity to express his deepest appreciation to the sponsors for the mosque project adding that, this is the first time the station has benefited from such a project from a benevolent organization.
He further reiterated that the donation of the mosque is a blessing and will serve the religious needs of the Prison Islamic community. He called on Allah’s blessing upon the donors.
