SEKONDI FEMALE PRISON SHOWCASES INMATES’ CREATIVITY
The Sekondi Female Prison has showcased the artistic talents of inmates through an art competition dubbed “Talent Behind These Walls”, organised under the Think Prisons 360° initiative.
Five inmates took part in the competition, translating their thoughts, experiences and imagination into unique works of art. Each participant subsequently presented her artwork and shared the inspiration and message behind the piece.
The competition brought together ADP Genevieve Hagan, Acting Officer-in-Charge, senior and junior officers, representatives of the Ghana National Fire Service and inmates of the facility.
In her remarks, ADP Hagan urged the inmates to recognise their abilities and use their talents positively. She noted that creative activities could strengthen self-confidence, encourage self-expression and contribute to rehabilitation, skills development and future livelihood opportunities.
The competition ended with the declaration and award of the winner, while all five participants received recognition for their efforts.
The initiative highlights the Service’s commitment to using creativity and skills development as tools for rehabilitation, empowerment and transformation.
