MINISTER INSPECTS ONGOING PRISON SCHOOL PROJECT AT AWUTU CAMP PRISON.
The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Eduamoah Okyere Ekow Panyin, on Tuesday, 26th August, 2026 inspected the ongoing construction of a fully-fledged elementary school for the Awutu Camp Prison as part of his Accounting to the People tour.
The project, funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), is about 35 percent complete and is expected to be completed in eight months.
Officer-in-Charge said the school will provide educational opportunities for officers’ wards and for officers transferred to Awutu.
The Minister advised that prison lands be protected from encroachment and recommended the provision of solar power and boreholes. The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Seth Serwornu-Banini, joining the Minister also said plans are underway to request additional land for a possible Senior High School and urged stakeholders to expedite work to meet the deadline.
