YARA GHANA DONATES TO PRISONS
YARA Ghana Limited, a leading fertilizer manufacturer in Africa, has donated 625 bags of Ammonia and NPK fertilizers to the Ghana Prisons Service.
Presenting the items yesterday at the premises of the company in Tema, the West Africa Regional Director of Yara Ghana Limited, Mr. Danquah Addo- Yobo, expressed the readiness of his organisation in partnering the Prisons Service to cultivate larger acres of farmlands to compliment feeding of inmates and generate income. He added that the partnership would also target capacity building whereby officers and inmates would be trained in best agricultural practices and fertiliser application.
The donation forms part of the firm’s commitment to support farmers under an initiative dubbed “Grow Ghana” which began mid-2022 and expected to end in December, 2022.
The Director of Prisons incharge of Agriculture, Mr.Hanson Adu – Awuku who received the donation on behalf of the Director-General of Prisons, thanked the management of Yara Ghana and assured them that the fertilizers would be distributed to the farming prison stations.
The Prisons team, led by DOP Awuku, toured the manufacturing site to familiarize themselves with the fertilizer manufacturing process and storage.
