UNODC DONATES COMPUTERS TO PRISONS SERVICE

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime has donated 5 sets of computers to the Prisons Service as part of a three (3) year project aimed at strengthening the compliance of the Ghana Prisons Service with the Nelson Mandala Rules.

The computers which were presented yesterday, Wednesday 14th June, 2023 at the Prisons headquarters, Accra will be distributed to the four (4) Prison facilities that are piloting the classification tool developed by the UNODC and the headquarters legal unit which serves as the secretariat for the three(3) year project.

Receiving the computers on behalf of the Director General, DOP. Dr. Francis Omane – Addo expressed his profound gratitude to the UNODC for the gesture and assured that, the computers would be used for it’s purpose to achieve the goals of the project.

Present at the presentation were the Director of Prisons in charge of Finance, Mr. Samuel Adjei-Attah, Director of Prisons in charge of Agric, Mr. Hanson Adu-Awuku, Chief legal officer, DDP. Paul Teye Ademan and some senior officers.
