GHANA PRISONS SERVICE PARTICIPATES IN INTERNAL AUDIT COMMITTEE CONFERENCE
The Ghana Prisons Service has participated in an Internal Audit Committee Conference held at the Parliament House in Accra to deliberate on audit reports, emerging concerns and measures to strengthen accountability and contribute to national development.

The conference brought together members of the committee and representatives from various security services to review key audit findings and discuss practical measures to address outstanding issues.

Representing the Director-General of Prisons, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, Esq., the Director of Prisons in charge of Finance and Parole, Mrs. Gloria Essandor, Esq., led the delegation.

In her report, she highlighted 40 audit issues, comprising 35 internal and 5 external audit findings. She indicated that all 35 external audit issues had been fully implemented, including concerns relating to unearned salaries and expired warrants of prisoners.

The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, emphasised the need for software at police stations to monitor activities and track expired warrants to improve efficiency and prevent delays in the administration of justice.
The Chairperson of the Committee, Hon. James Agalga, commended the commitment made by the Minister and assured participants that the concerns raised would receive the necessary attention and be effectively implemented.

The conference ended on a positive note, with a renewed commitment to strengthening accountability, improving institutional efficiency and promoting transparency for sustainable national development.
