LET’S COLLABORATE AND PROMOTE PEACE AND UNITY IN BAWKU-DDGP BAFFOE-BONNIE
The Deputy Director General of Prisons (DDGP) in charge of Finance and Administration, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (Esq.), has advised security officers in Bawku to collaborate and promote peace and unity in the town. According to her, security officers hold a crucial role in ensuring the safety of people, places, creating a secure environment by keeping a watchful eye on it and promptly responding to any anticipated threat.
Mrs. Baffoe-Bonnie emphasized this during an inter-security football competition match organized recently between the Armed forces and Prisons officers at the Bawku Senior High School Park, in the Upper East region. This was to promote peaceful coexistence among the two security institutions and also for the officers to exhibit their talents in soccer amidst recent tension that arose among these institutions in the town.
The captivating event also brought together students, indigenes and personnel from other sister security institutions stationed at Bawku and its environs.
There was so much excitement in the air as the crowd and personnel of both institutions sang ‘Jama’ to cheer the players up. The match finally came to a successful end with the Army team emerging winners by beaten Prisons 2-0. A trophy was presented to the Armed forces team.
The head of the Armed Forces Operations team in Bawku Colonel Owusu Appah, commended both teams for their effort, hardwork and also respecting the rules of the game. He reminded participants on the need to always come together to promote a healthy relationship and contribute their quota to promote peace and stability in the nation Ghana. He also urged them to collaborate and ensure that peace is restored in Bawku.
The leaders of the two institutions also presented footballs and tennis balls to the Bawku Senior High school.
Also in attendance were the Director in charge of Operations, Mr. Samuel Owusu Amponsah, the Officer in charge of Bawku local prison, ADP. Alhaji Sali Bin Kalib, the Officer in charge of sports, Supt. Seth Mantey Fianko and the head of the Prisons Operations team, Supt. Edmund Ohene.
