FREE HEALTH SCREENING AND DONATION FOR INMATES OF JAMES CAMP PRISON
The Authentic Classics, a non-governmental organisation in collaboration with MILIFE Insurance and Prison Volunteer Chaplains Association, on Saturday 20th July, 2024, offered a free comprehensive medical screening for inmates at James Camp Prison in Accra.
The group also donated wall fans to insulate inmates’ dormitories, pharmaceutical drugs, sets of football jerseys and footballs to the prison.

The event which was aimed at promoting the Physical and Mental well-being of the inmates, saw them participating in activities such as aerobics, display of soccer skills and other fun activities.
Mr. Franklin Agyapong, the Executive Director of the group stated that, they realised the health of inmates was an area which needed support so their goal was to conduct health screening with the help of medical professionals and also provide the Prison’s infirmary with basic pharmaceutical drugs to improve inmates health.
According to him, they believe everyone deserves a second chance and access to basic necessities hence, such gesture to the Prison. “We are thankful to our partners, volunteers and donors for the support in making this even a success” He expressed.

They hope to continue their outreach efforts with future events and other initiatives and also assured that, the programme will be extended to other prisons across the country as James Camp Prison happens to be the Pilot area.

Deputy Director Of Prisons (DDP) Sophia Osei-Bonsu, the Officer In Charge of James Camp Prison on behalf of the Ghana Prison Service and Inmates, expressed her gratitude to the group and their team members for their support and donation. She applauded the initiative, stating that such events help to boost the morale and promote the rehabilitation of inmates.

DDP. Sophia emphasized that, such events give the inmates hope and remind them that they are not forgotten so she made a call on the society and individuals to emulate the kind gesture of the Authentic Classics in supporting the reformation and rehabilitation process of inmates in any way within their capacity.
