THE RICHARD ADDISON FOUNDATION(TRAF) TO SUPPORT THINK PRISONS 360 DEGREES INITIATIVE
The Richard Addison Foundation have pledged their support for the Think Prisons 360 Degrees Initiative with a commitment to positively impact inmates by nurturing their talents and skills to enhance Reformation and Rehabilitation.
The group is working towards empowering inmates with gifted abilities through various developmental projects. Plans are underway to establish a music studio for inmates with singing talent, provide cultural instruments for those involved in traditional dance, and support initiatives such as catfish farming and agriculture.
The delegation visited the facility to present drums and other musical instruments to promote cultural activities among inmates. Speaking during the presentation, Egya Ampaabeng indicated that the group expects to provide an update on the proposed fishpond project by the end of the month.
He further noted that the foundation is engaging other stakeholders and partners to support the implementation of additional proposed projects. Efforts are also ongoing to secure qualified instructors to train inmates in cultural activities.
With the support of DSP Jacqueline Ewusie-Prah, who is in charge of cultural activities, inmates showcased their talents through singing, rapping, dancing, and choreography. DSP Jacqueline Ewusie-Prah also displayed some of the inmates’ handicrafts, including beadwork and sewing.
The group expressed admiration for the inmates’ creativity and ordered six pieces of kaftans produced by them. There was also a musical performance and display of instruments, supported by members of the visiting group and some officers.
In an interview, the Western Regional Commander DDP Abraham Nii Allotey stressed that the formation of the cultural groups was a directive from the Director-General aimed at unearthing and developing the talents of inmates. He emphasized that the initiative has come to stay and will continue to be strengthened. He further disclosed that the command is expanding into additional agricultural ventures, particularly gardening, as part of broader rehabilitation efforts.
The Regional Commander expressed profound appreciation on behalf of Management, Staff, and inmates for the support extended by TRAF, noting that such partnerships significantly contribute to inmate reformation and reintegration.
