YEJI CAMP PRISON HOLDS HEALTH SENSITIZATION AND FREE SCREENING EXERCISE TO MARK FATHER’S DAY
As part of activities marking this year’s Father’s Day celebration, Yeji Camp Prison, on Friday, 19th June, 2026, organized a health education and free medical screening programme for officers in collaboration with the Ghana Health Directorate, Yeji.
The programme was aimed at promoting healthy living among officers by creating awareness on hypertension and diabetes, two of the most common non-communicable diseases affecting adults.
The resource person, Mr. Ernest Bayor of the Ghana Health Directorate, Yeji, delivered an insightful presentation on the causes, signs and symptoms, risk factors, complications, and preventive measures associated with hypertension and diabetes. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise, balanced nutrition, routine medical check-ups, and adherence to medical advice where necessary.
Following the presentation, officers actively participated in an interactive question-and-answer session, during which Mr. Bayor patiently responded to the various questions raised, ensuring that participants gained a clear understanding of the topics discussed.
In his closing remarks, the Officer in Charge of Yeji Camp Prison, ADP. Eli Buatsi, expressed his profound appreciation to Mr. Ernest Bayor and the Ghana Health Directorate, Yeji, for honouring the invitation and enlightening officers on these critical health issues. He urged officers to prioritize their health by adopting healthy lifestyles and seeking regular medical examinations. He further encouraged officers, as fathers and father figures, to continue playing their pivotal roles in their families and to use the Father’s Day celebrations as an opportunity to spend quality time with their loved ones.
The programme concluded with a free health screening exercise, during which officers underwent blood pressure and blood sugar level checks. Medical advice was also provided to officers based on their screening results, with referrals made where necessary.
The programme formed part of Yeji Camp Prison’s commitment to promoting the health and well-being of its personnel while commemorating this year’s Father’s Day celebration.
